Sonata no. 1

Coy, Benjamin

Trombone and Piano

This sonata celebrates the first year of my son Anson's life. The first movement, "Introductions," is based on a fanfare-like series of notes he played on his xylophone toy. The second movement is a tender lullaby. The third movement, "Baby Steps," is a comical representation of the inevitable blunders that babies and new parents both make while exploring their new world together.
